Description

Manumissions Book, 1772-1786. This volume is filled with the names of Quakers and others who manumitted the people they enslaved and provides the name of their Meeting and names of the people they are manumitting. While all the districts of Philadelphia are represented, the greatest number of manumissions came from members of the Monthly meeting of Philadelphia (Arch Street). Pages 60-80, 113-160, 183-186, and 194-212 from manumissions book are blank.
